Using a drone during a wedding: a discreet and intentional approach

When people hear the word drone, they often imagine something very technical, spectacular, almost intrusive. That’s not how I see it.

For me, using a drone during a wedding is not about performance or impressive shots. It’s about perspective. About taking a step back, gently, to better understand the place where the story unfolds.

I’ve always been sensitive to locations. Long before becoming a wedding content creator, I worked as a bridal jewelry designer and styled editorials in beautiful venues, private estates, castles and family homes. Places have always mattered to me. They carry energy, light, atmosphere, and they play a real role in the emotion of a wedding day.

Why I sometimes use a drone for wedding content

When the venue, weather conditions and local regulations allow it, I may include a few simple drone shots during a wedding day. These images are never the focus. They are there to complement the story.

A wide view of the venue. The surrounding landscape. The way everything is set within its environment.

These moments help give context to the memories. They allow couples to remember not only what they felt, but also where it all happened.

Discretion always comes first

My approach to wedding drone footage is the same as my overall approach to content creation: discreet, thoughtful and intentional.

I only use the drone when it truly makes sense. Always with respect for the rhythm of the day, the guests, and the work of photographers and videographers. It’s never about interrupting a moment, but about adding a quiet layer to the story.

Sometimes it’s just a few seconds of video.Sometimes a single image from above.

And that’s enough.

Highlighting wedding venues with care

Wedding drone content can be a beautiful way to highlight a venue, especially for destination weddings or locations chosen with great care. But it should never take over the story.

That’s why drone footage is never guaranteed. It depends on the location, the weather, and the necessary authorizations. When it’s possible, it remains a complementary element, aligned with the spirit of the wedding and the emotions of the day.
